IHTTI celebrated the Spring Graduation 2010 on June 3rd. Graduates paraded from the school through the old town to the historic Neuchatel castle for the ceremony. There were 26 graduates with the Swiss Higher DIploma, 5 with a Bachelor in Hospitality & Tourism Management, and 3 Postgraduates in Hospitality Management. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the castle, followed by a lunch buffet back at the school for graduates and their guests.
This semester the students were offered the opportunity to participate in several excurions. 1st- year students visited Mauler Champagne and Feldschlossen brewery, where they were able to see in practice some of the theoretical elements that are part of the Food & Beverage modules in the 1st-year program. 2nd-year students visited the Hotel National in Luzern and the oldest running electrical power plant in Switzerland, as part of their tourism and operational studies. 3rd year students visited Montreux, including the Chateau de Chillon and the 5-star Fairmont Montreux Palace, whose General Manager, Michael Smithuis, is an IHTTI alumnus. BA students visited the Bellevue Palace in Bern, where they were welcomed by General Manager Mr. Bührer, who spoke about the challenges in the hospitality industry and offered his advice to future General Managers.
This semester we introduced the latest Macs to the computer lab, along with the launch of Windows 7 to all machines. The latest version of Fidelio, the international reservations system, called "Opera" is also being installed so Front Office classes will be working with the latest industry technology.
